Synopsis:
The witch: supernaturally powerful, inscrutably independent, and now—indestructible. These moving, relatable poems encourage resilience and embolden women to take control of their own stories. Enemies try to judge, oppress, and marginalize her, but the witch doesn’t burn in this one.
Review:
The Witch Doesn't Burn In This One is an important and empowering poetry collection. It is a true, raw, and heartfelt depiction of what it is like living as a woman in this broken and beautiful world.
I have been hearing so many people talking about this collection. How its one of their new favorites or it made them cry and I really wanted to be able to say that too. Sadly, I just couldn't.
I don't have much to say about this collection. I finished it really quickly. I didn't absolutely love any of the poems, but as a female living in the twenty-first century, I can definitely relate to a lot of the topics discussed in this poetry collection. However, perhaps because I am so young and I haven't experienced enough to really connect with the material, I feel like I couldn't truly appreciate the depth of the content.
One thing I really did like about this poetry collection is the feeling of empowerment I had while I was reading it. I loved the theme of strong women and feminism throughout the collection. I think this is a very relevant and important book and I think everyone should read it because the message is just so important and even though the collection didn't do very much for me, it made me think and made me proud to be who I am. Proud to be a woman.
